A reimagined version of Davian Robinson’s Sensory Beyond Sight class, this workshop was presented at Virginia Tech in collaboration with videographer 
Janet Biggs as part of the Misregistration project (October 2024). Through movement exploration and sensory-based exercises, participants removed visual blindfolds 
to deepen somatic awareness and discover how the body adapts and perceives through other senses—fostering transformation and a richer connection to their environments.

Hidden Within is an immersive video and spatial sound installation by artist Janet Biggs in collaboration with dancer Davian Robinson, 
mathematicians Agnieszka Międlar and Paul Cazeaux, physicist Daniel Tapia Takaki, and audio engineer Tanner Upthegrove. Commissioned by the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative 
and Virginia Tech’s ICAT, the project was exhibited at The Cube (Virginia Tech, Blacksburg) and CyberArts 2024 at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA. 
Exploring quantum communication and steganography, the work delves into how hidden information moves through light and sound—blending cutting-edge science with human introspection.

Contra Naturam is a collaborative three-channel video and sound installation by visual artist Janet Biggs and vision-impaired dancer Davian Robinson. 
Presented at Icehouse Project Space in Sharon, CT from August 10 to September 14, 2024, the work explores perceptions of disability and ability through choreography, 
spatialized sound, and conceptual framing inspired by a 1987 quote from William F. Buckley, Jr. The installation includes Icehouse Walk, 
an immersive audio journey through snow to the icehouse.

Davian Robinson lost his sight as a child, but that hasn't stopped him from pursuing his dream to be a dancer. His movement mentor and professor at UNC-Charlotte share how Davian is breaking barriers of dance and creating new opportunities for inclusivity.

SUNDER means to break away; apart - - - We were broken apart from God in the beginning and needed a bridge. Christ the second Adam is that bridge so that we may have relationship with God again. He who knew no sin became sin so that we would become the rightenesoness of God. SUNDER is a story of an orphan, broken, without any hope in knowing life or freedom. While experiencing spiritual warfare, Christ woos her into himself and introduces her to salvation. This is her story. Visually impaired junior Davian Robinson uses dance and choreography to make the most of his opportunities at UNC Charlotte. His unique experiences break down barriers and inspire others.

When he was born premature, doctors told his mom he wouldn’t make it through the night. But Davian Robinson has been defying the odds ever since. Because of a condition, Davian gradually lost his sight during childhood, but it did not stop him from becoming a national champion Paralympic cyclist, being a dance major at UNC-Charlotte and taking up sky diving as his new hobby. Davian seeks out ways to inspire and never quit trying new things and pushing the boundary of inclusiveness.
